Philadelphia 76ers forward LeBron James has blocked former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce more than any other NBA player, a viral stat reveals. This data point adds a new layer to their long-standing on-court rivalry, even as the Sixers look to bounce back from a tough stretch that includes a 114-144 loss to the New York Knicks on 2026-05-10.
What does the blocks list show about LeBron James and Paul Pierce?
A recent social media Reel from the basketball account @iknowballnetwork ranked the players LeBron James has blocked most. Paul Pierce sits at number one with 23 blocks. Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, and Stephen Curry are also on the list. LeBron has 1,185 total blocks in his 23-year career.
Their head-to-head record heavily favors James. He holds a 39-30 overall mark against Pierce. In the regular season, James averaged 29.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.5 assists. Pierce averaged 20.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. The scoring difference highlights LeBron's dominance in those matchups.
Why does Paul Pierce criticize LeBron James so often?
Pierce's public critiques of LeBron are well-documented. He once told reporters the Celtics did not want James in free agency. "No, we don't want him on the Celtics," Pierce said. LeBron later signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Pierce has also omitted James from his all-time top five players. He argued that playing for multiple teams hurt LeBron's legacy. These comments are rooted in a fierce playoff history. Boston eliminated LeBron's Cavaliers in 2008 and 2010. Pierce scored 41 points in Game 7 of the 2008 Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeBron flipped the script with the Miami Heat. They beat Boston in the 2011 and 2012 playoffs. His 45-point performance in Game 6 at Boston in 2012 sent Miami to the Finals. That game remains a defining moment in their rivalry.
How did NBA fans react to the blocked shots ranking?
Fans quickly linked Pierce's top spot to his history with LeBron. Social media reactions focused on the perceived psychological edge. "It all makes sense why Paul Pierce hate bron," one fan wrote. Another commented, "We now see why he lives rent-free in Paul Pierce's mind, his biggest hater."
Many were not surprised. "I just KNEW Pierce was gonna be number 1," a user said. Others found it satisfying. "Paul Pierce being at the top of the list brought a big smile to my face," read another reaction. Fans see the stat as validation of a rivalry that impacted both players' careers.
What is the current context for the Philadelphia 76ers?
